The Power of Submission

AHLB definition:
if1) Eqfst% (Eqfst% T-ShW-QH) – Desire: As a course. [freq. 3] |kjv: desire| str: 8669
A course, like a path

A woman’s desire will be to rule over (run over) her husband but he will rule over her. What Eve did with the fruit; cajoled her husband into following her, will become the woman’s natural desire on this earth. This is the curse to the woman on earth, that her natural desire will be out of God’s will.

We know this is true because Genesis 4:7 depicts the same scenario concerning sin itself. The word ‘desire’ is the same Hebrew word in both verses.

Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

In both cases, the man has the choice to lead or defer that leadership.

In the first case, deferring the leadership to the wife causes her to sin and goes against God’s plan (the husband as the priest of his home).Ephesians 5:22, Colossians 3:18, 1 Peter 3:1 and Titus 2:5 prove this fact.

See notes Ephesians 5:22

Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

1Peter 3:1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;

Titus 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

In the second case, deferring to sin will bring about the loss of his very life.

In both cases, deferring his leadership to his wife or his sinful nature is the end of the man himself.

In the case of deferring leadership to his wife, the husband will become the submitted one in the relationship and lose his God given identity as the priest of the home.

In submitting to his sinful nature , the man loses his very identity in Christ.

In both cases, He becomes lost and unable to fulfill God’s plan for his life.

The wife’s natural desire will be to rule her husband. So the true test for a woman who knows the Lord is whether she is truly submitted to her husband. This test is valid because of Romans 12:2.

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

For the wife, being conformed to this world is ruling over her husband. Being transformed is submitting to him.

Being conformed, she is lost and unable to fulfill God’s plan for her life.

Being transformed she is able to discern God’s perfect will for her life.

If she is truly transformed, she will be fully committed to being fully submitted.
