Handling Offence

It’s easy to be offended, especially by those closest to you and by whom much is expected; namely those in the church.

Be deliberate in your love for those who offend you. The definition of hate is: “as a thorn which causes one to avoid another.” Approach them head on and greet them; it is the simplest act of love and a necessary ingredient of forgiveness.

Understanding and doing God’s Word is of the greatest importance; hearing it only has the greatest of consequences.

Luke 17:1 Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
